WORLD POSTAL DAY ACTIVITY – CLASS III
World postal day is celebrated each year on 9th October, the anniversary of establishment of the universal postal union in 1874 in the Swis Capital, Bern. It was declared world post day by the UPU Congress held in Tokio, Japan in 1969.
Since then, countries across the world participate annually in the celebrations. This day is celebrated to highlight the importance of postal service.
The children of Class III made post boxes and posted letters to their grand parents inviting them to their place for Diwali celebrations. This activity not only emphasised the love and affection which should be given to elderly members of our family but also highlighted the importance of postal service.
No matter how fast our technology has made progress and there are many ways of sending messages, but reading, writing and communicating with letters gives immense joy and pleasure.
