Earth Quake Quiz



An Interschool Quiz competition on Earth Quake Tips was conducted by IIT, Kanpur at Green Fields School on Saturday, 15th November 2014. The Quiz was an endeavor to create awareness amongst the students on Earthquake Tips and Concepts related to Earthquake resistant constructions. The event was the preliminary round where many schools across the Delhi Zone participated. The Green Fields School team stood first in the competition. The team will now represent the Delhi Zone at the National Level Finals which will be conducted at IIT, Kanpur in January 2015.
Overall, the students found the competition to be an appealing and edifying to garner adroit information on Earthquake Management.

Children’s Day



The Students and teachers celebrated the occasion of Children’s Day with great zeal and colourful performances. A special assembly was organized to commemorate the day which also marked the commencement of Bal Swatch Mission in the school. The program began with the reinforcement of Swatch Bharat Mission Guidelines by our Principal. This was followed by the Swatch Bharat Pledge by the students/teachers of the school.

Guru Purab Celebrations



Guru Purab was celebrated with great zeal and fervent participation by the students and teachers on 5th November 2014. A Special Assembly was conducted to mark the occasion. A Speech on the relevance of the day, historical importance, Guru Nanak’s teachings about Omni presence of One God and his belief in ‘Equality of Humans” was given by the House teacher. This was followed by a vibrant Prabhat Pheri and a mellifluous rendition of Shabad kirtan by the students.
The celebrations culminated with students and teachers contemplating about Guru Nanak ji’s preachings and their subsequent translation into actions in their day to day lives!

Hindi Week



With the aim to rekindle the love for India’s Official language among students various programmes and competitions were organized to celebrate “Hindi Divas”. This included storytelling, essay writing and poem recitation. The students sang songs in praise of Hindi, and made a presentation of amazing facts and thought for the day. The finest pieces of creative writings and beautiful charts by the students were put up on the display boards, each bearing testimony to the effective teaching of the language. The message was beautifully conveyed through the following couplet.

“Sab vikist desho ka yehi hai raj
Matribhasha se banta hai sartaj”

The week long programme culminated with the ‘Laghu Natika’ which was the main attraction of the Hindi Divas.


Math Week



In furtherance to our endeavor of integrating students learning experiences with activity based comprehension, a Maths Week was organized from 13th to 18th October in Green Fields School, A-2 Safdarjung Enclave. Various interesting and novel competitions were conducted across the school which included Gallery Walk, Poster Making, Power Point Competitions and Rangometry. Prizes were awarded by the Principal Mrs. Mini Khanna to the winners to recognize their efforts and motivate them. The students participated with great zeal and demonstrated a keen desire to learn, optimizing their academic knowledge with complementary practical understandings, to gain a holistic learning experience of the subject.


Book Week



Book week is being observed from 25th Nov’2013 to 29th Nov’2013 in the school.

Various activities like designing a book cover, role play of literary characters and discussions / debates on the works of various authors are being conducted.

Scholastic Pvt. Ltd. Has put up a Book fair in the school premises till 29th Nov’2013.


Computer Week Celebration At Green Fields School 24th Nov -28th Nov 2014



In a world driven by fast paced technology, it becomes critical that students are aptly equipped with key Information and Communication techniques and skills. To augment the students’ comprehension and help nurture a keen sense of aptitude towards Computer Knowledge, the school organized a Computer Week from 27th Oct to 31st Oct 2014. Various competitions across all levels were conducted to encourage students to gain hands on expertise in various areas of ICT. The Primary Classes made use of different MS tools like Power point, Word and Excel to create graphical / visual representations on topics like Save Environment and noise Pollution. The Middle and the Secondary Classes had invigorating competitions like Web Designing, Result Analysis through MS Excel, Photoshop and Gaming Competitions.
Overall, the Week provided a platform for the students to blend their contextual learning from textbooks, into practical translations enhancing their hands on competencies on diverse and relevant ICT related skills.


Social Science Week



School celebrated Social Science Week from 26th – 30th August . Students from class I-XII participated with zeal and enthusiasm in various events organised during the week.
Students of class I dressed as people who help us recognised their contribution to the society while class II students gave the message of peace and harmony through their dance and song. Students of class III campaigned to save Environment .Geography Quiz was organised for the students of class IV and class V put up a skit on Freedom Struggle to salute our freedom fighters.
The Panchayat by class VI students took up the important social issue of Gender Equality. Group presentation on Mid-day meal and Ladli Yojna by class VII was appreciated by one and all. The theme for class VIII and IX was ‘Jallianwala Bagh, and French Revolution which inspired the world to rise to the cause of Liberty and Equality. Class X and XI participated in social science quiz. Class XII put up a skit on the first session of the Constituent Assembly-attribute the great leaders. The Social science Week culminated with a play on ‘Child Labour’.


Vigilance Week Observed



The Vigilance Week was observed at Green Fields School from 31st October to 3rd November 2014. The students were involved in a plethora of activities throughout the week which included Debate, Symposium, Slogan writing, Group discussions and Speech. Slogan writing competition held on the topic “Root out corruption before it roots in you” showcased the ethical commitment of our students towards the fight against the evil of corruption. Debates on topics like “ E-ticketing and its effect on reducing corruption from the booking system’ , ‘E-governance’, ‘ E procurement’ brought to fore the students’ neo thoughts on electronic media, its benefits in facilitating reduction of corruption from day to day middle channels.
The Vigilance week was a successful endeavour as the students realized the implications of Corruption in a civil society and reaffirmed their intentions to weed it out of the system through awareness so as to create a Corruption Free State.


Literary Week



Fun filled activities were conducted for both Primary and secondary classes from 14th -19th july at Green Fields school Safdarjung as a part of the Literary week . This included Role Play ,Elocution, calligraphy , Debates and depiction of literary characters like Macbeth,Shylock, Tom Sawyer,Etc.The final round of all the competitions was held on 19th July and students were awarded for their performance. The enthusiasm of the students was at the peak in the final round when students were awarded first ,second and third prizes. The winners were applauded by the Asst Direcor Mrs Shweta Kapoor and the Principal Mrs Mini Khanna. In her speech the Principal expressed her appreciation for the mass participation of the students and advised the students to take part in all such competitions for the overall development .The literary week was a grand success as the students were given an opportunity to bring out their creativity and discover their inherent talents


Sanskrit Week



Sanskrit Week was observed at Green Fields School A2 Safdarjung New Delhi from 4th -7th August 2014.It commenced with a short speech in Sanskrit during the Morning Assembly. Thought for the Day and interesting Facts were also spoken in Sanskrit. Other activities included a quiz based on Sanskrit vocabulary in which students of class V participated with lots of enthusiasm. A sloka chanting competition was organized for the students of class VIII. Two students of class IX wrote poems in Sanskrit which were recited in the morning assembly. An essay writing and anthashari competition also were held in Sanskrit for the senior students who participated with Zeal and enthusiasm. Overall the Sanskrit week was a learning experience to the students.

Rashtriya Ekta Divas Celebrations



In an endeavour to imbibe and strengthen the values of Solidarity towards our Nation, the School observed the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October 2014. A Special Assembly was organized in the school where the students/ teachers together took a pledge for a United India. The Head Boy gave a speech on the occasion’s Patriotic Song/Dance inspired by the Life and Contributions Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was performed by the primary students. Several activities were conducted during the day like article writing, Intra Class Quizzes and Art Competitions based on the theme of Unity.
The event ensured that the core value of Sovereignty of our Country was reinforced in the students and teachers with great fervor!

Career Fair



The Green Fields School organized a Career Fair at the School Campus for Classes IX-XII on 1st November 2014. The highlight of the event included a session by eminent Career Counselors Mrs. Usha Albuquerque and Mrs Sushma Singh talking about various career opportunities available for different streams like Science, Humanities and Commerce. The speakers brought to fore the need for each student to identify and know their strengths and pursue a career of their interest and choice without peer/family pressures. Around 22 stalls by different universities were put up for the students and their parents with details about varied career choices.
Overall, the event was well received and appreciated by parents and students. Such Career Fairs enable students to explore their true potential providing them a blend of their latent talent and learned competencies .It further ensures that they are successful professionals and happier as they pursue have chosen the right career!

Fostering Our Rich Heritage On The Eve Of Diwali



The Green Fields School celebrated Diwali on 21st October 2014 with great Zest. The students collaborated to demonstrate their talent through various forms of expressions including songs and dances .The primary students showcased the key anecdotes from the Ramayana through dance / drama highlighting the cultural legacy and moral values .The senior students enacted the Swach Bharat Swach School integration in the form of a contemporary tale which renewed the schools allegiance to the philosophy of Cleanliness. Overall, it was a wondrous event filled with fun based learning, an endeavor from our students to revive our cultural ethics and ideals with elements of modernity touching hearts of everyone present!

Swatch Bharat Campaign



A “Cleanliness Walk” initiated by the Delhi Government was steered into action by the Eco –Club students of Green Fields School of classes VI-VIII on 30thSeptember 2014. Our Young Samaritans all decked up for the cause with banners on” Clean Delhi “, Swatch Bharat ““ Shreshtha Bharat” moved on foot and on their bicycles to spread the message of cleanliness in and around the School area. The event was supported and appreciated by the officials and workers of M.C.D and Delhi Police. The NCC Cadets along with the Commanding Officer were also part of this Cleanliness Walk.

Founders Day



The School celebrated its Founders Day programme on 14th August 2014. The Function was presided by the founder Director, Mrs Padma Khanna. Assistant Director Mrs. Shweta Kapoor accompanied by the Principal, Mrs. Mini Khanna unfurled the flag followed by the school song and Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets. The programme commenced with a march past by the students. An hour long cultural programme was put up by the students from classes I-XII. The primary class students performedsong and dance on ‘Hum Bhartiya Hai’ while the middle section depicted unity through ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’. The secondary and the senior secondary students reiterated ‘Satyameva Jayate’, the school motto through their Qawwali and the Skit. The fusion drillcomprising of aerobics, gymnastics, skating and the Pyramiden thralled the audience. The function culminated with the address bythe Hon’ble Director who congratulated the Principal, Staff and thestudents for the wonderful programme and their hard work.

One Nation Reads Together



Green Fields School observed ONE NATION READS TOGETHER on 29th Nov 2013 in the school premises from 12:00 hrs to 12:30 hrs .
Student diligently read various genre’s of literature in the fiction and nonfiction categories. This was an excellent culmination to the “Book Week” which was going on from 25th Nov to 29th Nov 2013 in the School premises. Such activities are welcome to inculcate reading habits amongst children of today .
Kudos to team Scholastic for organizing such events for all School .

Literary Character Competition



Students of class 8th depicted the Literary characters during the book week celebration the students dressed up as characters out of Shekshpear stories as Kabuliwallah , Nancy Drew , Alice in Wonderland etc. and enthralled the audience .

Health Check- up



Annual Health check up is going on in Green fields School for calsses I to XII. the Health check up is being organized by Akash Medical center.

Forum of Public Schools



Forum of Public school organized a workshop in Green Fields School.
One day capacity building workshop was conducted on Co-Scholastic aspects of CCE ( Life skills, Altitudes, values, health and wellness) was conducted in school on 22nd November’13.
The speaker of the program was MR. J. NAGPAL, Programme Director Expression in India.
The workshop was conducted by MRS.USHA ANAND and RITU HINGRA. The teachers were appraised about the techniques of assessing co-scholastic fields with different case studies.

An Educational Trip



Classes of VII & VIII went for an educational trip cum picnic to Mehrauli Archelogical Park. The student visited Jamali-Khamali and other monuments. They enjoyed the day by playing in the lawn of the park.

Rules on the Road



The Delhi traffic Police conducted a workshop with students of classes VIII to X on “Rules on the Road”
The workshop conducted covered all aspects pertaining to the safety of children on Delhi roads which are today ,fully congested and busier than ever before. Such a lecture was quite beneficial to our children to keep them safe on roads and counsel them on ‘biker‘ frenzy.
The students witnessed an exhibition in a mobile van. This was a complete exposure to traffic rules and road signs. They learnt a lot about the Do’s and Don’ts on the roads. The film shown by Constable Prasad was quite educative and a great learning experience for all the students. The School’s Bus Drivers and Conductors were also covered under the road safety programme and were strictly warned to follow the traffic rules , road signs & markings in order to ensure the safety of all children.
